Little Moment in Marrakech
マラケシュの街で荷物を運ぶロバも、神聖にあってられる猫も、
娘は同じまなざしで見ていました。
本来そこにあるはずの役割や線引きは、彼女の世界には存在していませんでした。世界が存在すべきと主張する役割や境界線は、彼女の中にはどこにも見当たりませんでした。
In the streets of Marrakech, my daughter looked upon the burden-bearing donkey and the cat touched by the sacred with the very same gaze.
The roles and boundaries the world insists should exist were nowhere to be found in hers.
母である私は、土地や宗教、
文化によって動物の価値や扱われている現実を見て、人間の傲慢さを少し感じて
しまいます。
As a mother, witnessing how the worth and place of animals are so often defined by land, religion, and culture, I cannot help but feel, at times, the quiet arrogance of humanity.
ホテルで娘が受け取った塗り絵にはロバが描かれていて、
無心でロバを色付けしてゆく彼女の横で、この気持ちを形にしたいと思いました。
In the coloring book my daughter received at the hotel, there was a donkey.
As she sat beside me, innocently filling it with color, I found myself wanting to give shape to these feelings.
価値とは、与えられるものではなく、感じるものだと考えています。
価値という観点が植え付けられる前に、まだ名前が付かない愛着や大切さを、ジュエリーという形に落とし込みました。
I believe value is not something assigned, but something felt.
Before the world teaches us to measure worth, before attachment and preciousness are given names, I sought to translate those quiet, unnamed feelings into the form of jewelry.

And for this Horse series, I had the privilege of having it photographed in Normandy, France, by my beloved photographer, Skip Hopkins.
海と山、どこまでも続く草原。そして静かに佇む馬たち。
豊かな自然に包まれたこの土地に、どうしても重ねてみたかった想いがありました。
The sea and the mountains, endless grasslands stretching as far as the eye can see, and horses standing quietly within them.
In this land, embraced by such abundant nature, there was a feeling I deeply longed to intertwine with my own.
彼の写真には、どこまでも自然体で心地よい良い空気が流れていて
どこか儚さも宿っています。
その人間性ごと写しとるような視点が、私はずっと好きです。
There is an effortless, comforting air that flows through his photographs, and within it lives a quiet sense of fragility.
I have always loved the way his perspective seems to capture not only the image itself, but the very humanity of its subject.
パリからノルマンディへと旅してもらい、その道中ごと切り取るように
撮影された今回のイメージには、作為のない美しさがありました。
For this series, he traveled from Paris to Normandy, capturing the journey itself as though preserving each passing moment along the way.
Within these images, there was a beauty untouched by artifice.
価値は、与えられるものではなく、感じるもの。
自然の中で生きる存在に対して、心を寄せること。
Value is not something assigned, but something felt.
It is the act of offering one’s heart to lives that simply exist within nature.
その感覚を忘れずにいたいと思います。
I hope to never lose that way of feeling.
